A little about Carol's work
Hi, my name is Carol Dyer. I was born in a small town in Michigan. We lived on a farm raising cows, pigs, chickens and produce.
I have always had a need to create. Our money was tight, so I had to learn to make my art projects out of what I could find.
I really didn't start painting until after I was married. Even then art was something I did in what little spare time I had. I was never really without some form of creativity during my younger days.
My husband and I have three wonderful daughters, six grandsons and one granddaughter. With working , moving around the country and raising our children, I really had very little time for my art.
We were living in Olathe, Kansas when my husband and I retired. At that time we decided to move to North Carolina to be close to our youngest daughter.
I began looking around for something to do to keep busy. One of my daughters gave me a starter kit for making jewelry. My family also loaded me up on art supplies so I could start painting again. I found that making jewelry was something I loved. I gave away a lot of my first creations. I had so much made and could not stop making more. I had to find an outlet for my jewelry so I began selling it. It was a wonderful feeling to find that others liked and were willing to buy my creations.
In addition to making jewelry, I felt the need to revive another art form, so I signed up for painting classes at CVCC. The instructor I had was so inspiring that I became involved with all kinds of art. I love watercolor painting, but still did some oils. I am now learning to use acrylic paints.
I am thrilled when I sell a painting. I never thought my life would go in this direction, but I am loving every minute of it.
